As reported by The A.V. club the T.V. show is currently promoting "Southern Charm" week. In the background of a promo teasing the upcoming events for the week, you see two African American woman wearing old fashioned hoop skirts in front of a ranch style house.
The photo was supposedly taken by someone on the shows production staff over a decade ago while they were on a plantation in Louisiana. They claim that the owner of the plantation did not have slaves. Executive producer Harry Friedman says they do regret the use of the image.
