Orlando & The Freakshow

Weekdays 6AM - 10AM

Whether you’re in a brand new relationship or you’ve been with the same person for half your life, keeping the spark alive is important! Meredith from the Freakshow has complied a list of her favorite places to go to on a date from all over the Tampa Bay area.

These suggestions will vary from affordable evenings out to special anniversaries even when you’ve run out of ideas. So sit back and check out some of the best places to enjoy an evening out with your one true love (or someone you just want to smash).

1. Hyde Park Village – Cinebistro

There’s tons of shopping, several new restaurants and let’s not forget Cinebistro for a new movie. Even if you’re on a tight budget you can swing by Bartaco for affordable Mexican food, walk through the court yard at night and then stop by Sprinkles for a nice cupcake to end the evening. Even walking in the local shops like Pottery Barn and West Elm can entertain you both for a while and if you get thirsty don’t forget On Swann or Timpanos for a nice alcoholic beverage.

One of my favorite movie theaters is Cinebistro but don’t forget to check availability because they only have limited seating especially when a new movie comes out. But with their big leather seats and full menu you can enjoy watching a movie in luxury which makes this suggestion one of my top ten choices for the perfect night out. Not to mention they have a full bar so you can drink a chilled glass of wine while watching your favorite actor kick some butt.

2. Brandon – Topgolf (Dave & Busters)

Topgolf is perfect for a double date or even just the two of you… enjoy hitting some golf balls, delicious food and a full bar to get to know one another while enjoying a fun atmosphere. You can get the same fun experience by stopping by Dave & Busters to play tons of adult video games and winning prizes.

3. Ybor – Columbia Restaurant

One of my favorite restaurants in Ybor is definitely the Columbia Restaurant where you can also enjoy a Flamenco Show for entertainment. The Columbia restaurant is perfect for authentic Cuban food and is perfect for a first date or any date night! It’s a classy establishment but you can dress up or down for a wonderful dinner. After eating you can walk down 7th street to watch people hand-roll cigars, stop off at several bars and clubs and even see a comedy show at the Improv. If the comedy shows are sold out you can always go see a movie where they have a full bar or just relax in one of the nightclubs.

4. Downtown St. Petersburg – Sundial

The Sundial is such a fun place you can go to with the entire family! A date night out there is absolutely perfect since it’s so close to the water where you can take a stroll by the Vinoy and look at the beautiful sailboats. Not to mention they have a million different restaurants to explore and fun shops. If you’re in the mood to club you’ll have several options but bar hoping is what most people love about Downtown St. Petersburg the most.

You MUST stop by the Locale Market located in the Sundial where they have a curated grocery store on the first floor that’s an experience to shop at and enjoy the restaurant upstairs. After that I would walk around and have a drink at several restaurants and bars. If you’d like to do a daytime date stop by one of the many museums including the Dali Museum and have lunch right on the water.
