Miley Cyrus and the NBC Voice family is mourning Janice Freeman, a former "fan favorite" on the show who has died at the age of 33, CNN reports.

Freeman was suffering from an "extreme case of pneumonia and a blood clot that traveled to her heart." Her husband confirmed the news to the network in a statement.

"A survivor and fighter, and a beautiful force in this world, Janice gained notoriety through her success on NBC's 'The Voice' as a member of Miley Cyrus' team," the statement said. "Her story inspired fans nationwide, having successfully battled cervical cancer and living her life to the fullest while fighting lupus."

Cyrus paid tribute to the singer on her Instagram Stories Sunday, sharing a photo of a rainbow and saying, "Thank you @janicefreeman ... for everything. This represents you perfectly."

Freeman had previously revealed that Miley Cyrus had remained a close friend of hers, even helping to pay some of her family's bills after the show ended.

Jennifer Hudson, who had offered the singer a spot on her team on the show, also paid tribute to Freeman.

Freeman had previously survived cervical cancer and was praised as an inspiration for all.
