Judge Allows Parents To Collect Sperm From Son Who Died In Accident
A judge is allowing the parents of a West Point cadet who died last month to collect their son’s sperm in the hopes of having a grandchild.
After 21-year-old Peter Zhu was left brain dead by a skiing accident, his parents petitioned the court, saying their son “told us how he wanted children of his own one day, and that he wanted to give us grandchildren”.
Since Zhu was an organ donor, a court order was issued to extract the sperm on the same day his organs were harvested. However, that sperm will be kept on ice until a court hearing later this month that will determine what can legally be done.
