The FDA has outlined its new rules on the sale of vapes and e-cigarettes, aimed at reducing their use among teenagers.

Under the new proposal, flavored vape pods could only be sold online or in dedicated vape shops that don't allow children under 18. Convenience stores would have to keep vapes in a walled-off room separate from the rest of the store.

The FDA is particularly concerned about fruity flavors like mango or bubble gum which appeal to young people, and brightly-colored packaging that resembles candy.

Outgoing FDA chief Scott Gottlieb called teen vaping an 'epidemic' last year. A CDC study said use of e-cigs among high school students rose 78 percent in the last year.
