Artist Creates Pokémon Inspired Hip Hop Culture Cards
Remember Pokémon? What if you could play Pokémon using your favorite Hip Hop artist!
Meet Jordan Jones an artist from New Britain, CT who created “Culture Cards.” In an exclusive interview, Jordan gave us some insight into the Pokémon inspired card game that features popular Hip Hop artist like Cardi B, Jay Z, Nipsey Hussle and more.
“One day I had an idea to combine something I like now and something I loved as a kid, and that was the first thing that popped into my head. Once I thought of it, I knew it was gonna be one of my best projects yet.”
Each card takes 5-8 hours to create as Jordan starts his drawings on paper. He scans in the drawings and adds the color in digitally (except for Jay Z which has a hand-drawn background.)Each card looks just like the Pokémon cards which even includes different powers from the artist. Cardi B’s card has two power moves “Shoemerang” and “Okurrrrr” and Kanye West has “MAGA Blast” and “Poopity Scoop.”
“So far they are created so they can be played with the original Pokémon card game, but I intend to branch off and start developing some of my own rules.”
