Florida Prison Officers Could Soon Be Armed With ‘Dart-Fired’ Tasers
Some Florida prison officers could be allowed to use stun guns when handling disturbances among inmates.
Advocates object to giving corrections officers another device that can harm prisoners. The proposal, in the early stage, proposes that bodycams be worn on officers permitted to carry tasers.
Prison advocates like that proposal about officers wearing bodycams but question who would review the footage and would the footage be made public if an interaction turned fatal.
