Man Attempted To Kidnap a 4-Year-Old Out Of A Hampton Inn In Tampa
Tampa Police Department got a call Saturday evening out of Hampton Inn on W. Laurel Street after a man broke into a family’s hotel room, attempting to kidnap a 4-year-old child.
Desmond Johnson, 31, broke into a hotel room where 3 children and a mother were staying. The mom was in the bathroom when she heard her children screaming. As she ran out of the bathroom, she saw Johnson grabbing her 4-year-old off the bed.
The mom fought Johnson as people heard the commotion from the other rooms. Luckily there was an off-duty sheriff deputy who was able to stop him before the police got to the scene.
The mother and children did not suffer any injuries according to Tampa police.
Johnson was charged with two counts of burglary involving battery and a count of attempted kidnapping.
