Uber Driver Upset Over Mess After Passenger Gives Birth in Backseat
While some people find the miracle of childbirth to be a life-changing event, a Chicago-based Uber driver is anything but touched after a passenger gave birth in his backseat.
Driver Jose Duran says he wasn’t even aware his passenger was pregnant when “halfway through the ride she started screaming. I told her, ‘You are freaking me out!’ And then she started screaming again and she said, ‘It’s this baby.’ And I’m like, ‘What baby?'” Duran says by breaking the speed limit and running several red lights, he managed to get her to the hospital — but not quite soon enough. After picking up one passenger, Duran dropped off two.
Giving birth is a messy affair, and this incident which occurred Sunday was no exception.
However, the detailing company contracted by Uber has refused to clean Duran’s car, saying the seats need to be replaced, he says. And Uber refuses to pay the $1,000 deductible required to have the work done.
