Grandmother Sues After She Was Arrested At Disney World With CBD Oil In Her Purse
A grandmother was arrested at Disney World for having CBD Oil in her purse.
According to CNN.com, the 69-year-old was asked to pull the contents from her purse while entering the Magic Kingdom.
Hester Burkhalter and her husband saved for two years to take their children to Disney World, Burkhalter was arrested for possessing a vial of CBD oil that was clearly marked as “0% THC.”
Burkhalter, who is white, is suing claiming she was illegally detained, falsely arrested and her civil rights had been violated. The suit is calling for $6 million in compensatory damages and $12 million in punitive damages for Burkhalter as well as millions for her family.
During her arrest Burkhalter was strip-searched and said at one point she told police officers she “couldn’t breathe” and even vomited in the back seat of the squad car. Burkhalter is being represented by Ben Crump, who is also representing the family of George Floyd.
