7 Things To Know If You’re Getting The Vaccine

Florida has opened up vaccine eligibility to 40 and older and starting Monday, April 5th, all Floridians will be able to get in line. I have an appointment this week for my first shot and was wondering what I should or shouldn’t do leading up to the day. Here are 7 quick tips I found if you plan on getting your vaccine soon. • Don’t post a selfie with your ID Card

  I know you're excited for the free donut but please don't post a selfie with your ID card. You open yourself up to identity theft. A lot of information is on those cards.

• Drinking Won’t Affect Vaccine

  Crazy night out in Ybor? Don't worry about drinking alcohol before the shot. While it may weaken your immune system overall, it will not affect the vaccine.

• Medications Could Affect Vaccine

  Don't take an over-the-counter medication like Advil or Tylenol. They could possibly interfere with your immune response. Afterward is fine if you should have any symptoms.

• Get your card laminated

  Make sure you don't lose your ID card. Stores like Staples or Office Max will laminate them for free!

• Get Some Rest

  Don't push yourself to exercise. If you feel run down, take a day off.
• Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

  Drink lots of water. Not hydrating yourself could affect how the vaccine works in your system. Hydrate!
