One-Fifth of U.S. Beef Capacity Wiped Out by JBS Cyberattack
The largest meat producer globally was hit by a cyberattack that halted its global operations just like the Colonial Pipeline and now plants across the U.S. have been completely shut down.
They should have most plants operational today.
“The cyberattack forced the shutdown of all of JBS’s U.S. beef plants, facilities that account for almost a quarter of American supplies.”
It wasn’t just American computers that was affected by this attack. The company’s computer networks also forced shutdowns in Australia and one of Canada’s largest beef plants.
A notorious Russia-linked hacking group is behind the cyberattack against JBS.
JBS said in a statement that the ‘organized cybersecurity attack was detected on Sunday, affecting some of the servers supporting the North American and Australian IT systems. The company took immediate action, suspending all affected systems, notifying authorities and activating the company’s global network of IT professionals and third-party experts to resolve the situation.’
