Florida Officer Gets DUI While Driving Patrol Car
The Sheriff’s Office in Jacksonville says one of their patrol officers was issued an emergency suspension after an incident that occurred yesterday. The officer, who has been with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office for about 3 1/2 years, was observed near an airport driving over traffic cones.
When the officer was asked to take a breathalyzer test, he agreed and failed the test. The BAC showed 0.08, which is illegal, especially considering any alcohol in the blood whatsoever is against the rules when driving a marked patrol car. The sheriff’s office says they are moving forward with terminating his employment as soon as possible.
During an interview with investigators, the officer hinted that he may have still been still intoxicated from a hard night of partying the night before.
