Tampa Woman Faces 15 Years In Jail After Deleting 17,000 Resumes From Former Employer’s Database
Medghyne Calonge, a former HR executive now faces 15 years in jail after she deleted 17,000 resumes from her former employer’s database after getting fired from her job.
Calonge, 41, of Tampa worked for the New York-based online accounting firm 1-800-Accountant but was let go in June 2019 for poor job performance.
So here’s what happened… Calonge got into an argument with a colleague and decided to lock them out of the company’s computer system. Afterwards she logged into the company’s HR system and deleted over 17,000 resumes plus she inserted many explicit messages in other files including the employee she didn’t like at work.
The accounting firm 1-800-Accountant spent over $300,000 within two years to fix the computer system along and then needed to spend an additional $100,000 to get it to work again but some files remained gone forever.
Calonge was convicted of two counts of damaging computers and now faces up to 15 years in prison for her crimes.
