WOW! 18 former NBA players have been caught defrauding the league's health and welfare benefit plan! They made fake insurance claims adding up to $4 million and now 16 of the defendants are in custody.

The ex-players were involved in a widespread scheme after they submitted false claims to get reimbursed for medical and dental expenses that never actually happened.

Basically, they faked going to multiple doctors including seeing chiropractors, dentists and going to the ER. Not only were the ex-players involved in this widespread fraudulent scheme but some wives were involved too.

Anthony Allen who's a 6-time All-Defensive team selection and a member of the 2008 champion Boston Celtics was indicted along with his wife.

This scheme happened from 2017 to 2020, totaling about $3.9 million giving the defendants around $2.5 million in total.
