The sheriff’s office explained in a Facebook post that the fifth-grader from Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral sent a “threatening text message.” The sheriff’s office interviewed the boy and charged him with making a written threat for a mass shooting.
Daniel Issac Marquez was arrested just five days after 19 children and two teachers were murdered at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
The young boy has been charged with “written or electronic threat to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.”
Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, “Right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny. This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”
