Mo’Nique And D.L. Hughley Fight Over Headliner Status After Comedy Show
Comedians Mo’Nique and D.L. Hughley got into a heated online feud after Mo’Nique thought she should’ve been the headline performer at The Comedy Explosion.
Instead, DL Hughley was the closer that evening but instead of talking about it behind the scenes she told the crowd, “Y’all don’t understand the fight I had to go through to stand in front of y’all tonight.”
She was telling everyone that Hughley refused to perform if Mo’Nique was the headliner. Then she went online and posted her contract to prove that she was supposed to be the headliner and not DL Hughley.
Hughley took to Instagram on Sunday to deny everything that she was claiming and said he didn’t even want to do a show with Mo’Nique because she causes so much drama. He explained that she’s had several feuds with prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including Oprah Winfrey, Steve Harvey and Netflix.
He wrote, “All you have to do is check the order of names on the ticket stub from last night and you’ll see who’s confused. Against my better judgment, over the objections of my team and 4 other occasions where I said NO, I decided to take a chance and work with Monique.”
He continued, “At some point it can’t be everyone else, IT’S YOU!! Lesson learned. I didn’t have anything personal against Monique… People paid a lot of money to laugh, not hear about your contract.”
Mo’Nique responded to Hughley’s post saying, “The fact that you point the people to the ticket stubs for the order of the names versus to your contract implies that you don’t have a contract that shows you are the headliner, like i do. Either show your contract or be quiet.”
Then late last night DL posted his final contract with the date after her signed agreement. Meaning he’s the one they decided should close the show.
