A woman in Missouri has been awarded a nice settlement after contracting HPV from her partner in his car. According to reports The woman who is a Jackson County resident submitted a petition directly to Geico at first. She alleged that her partner negligently caused or "contributed to cause to be infected with HPV by not taking proper precautions and neglecting to inform and/or disclose his diagnosis."

In April of 2021 she made a final settlement offer of $1M to resolve her claims, but GEICO denied the coverage and refused her settlement offer. The case was then sent to arbitrator that determined "there was sexual activity in (insured's) automobile" that "directly caused, or directly contributed to cause" the woman to be infected with the STD, despite her former partner's knowledge of his positive HPV diagnosis. The arbitrator submitted that $5.2 million would fairly compensate the woman and a three panel Jude upheld the decision.
