It’s an end of an era. Grand Prix Tampa has closed! Grand Prix Tampa opened the doors in 1978 as Malibu Grand Prix and it was home to two go-kart tracks, a batting cage, an arcade and two miniature golf courses. The broke the news yesterday morning on their Facebook page saying “We regret to inform you that Grand Prix Tampa is permanently closed.”

According to the Tampa Tribune in 2005 Malibu Grand Prix was rundown. New ownership came in and refurbished the attraction, adding new go-karts, new video games, and fixing up the batting cages.

Last year Christian and Carlos Yepes brought the property are now planning to build a 11 three-story apartment buildings with almost 300 units. If you want any keep sakes from Malibu/Grand Prix Tampa, Carlos Yepes said they will auction at the site at 9am  on Aug. 9th.
