$2400 For A 24 Hour “Digital Detox”
24 Hours and Zero Screen Access
$2400 for a 24 hour “digital detox”, sounds like perfect motivation to try this challenge. The inspired folks at Reviews.org are looking for contestants to do just that. Go without any screen access for a total of 24 hours. This digital detox is cutting the cord, literally, as your favorite electronics would be off limits, for an entire day. If you are capable, you’d be without your cell phone, television, gaming systems, computer (or laptop). You also have to abstain from any smartwatch or smart device usage. “Alexa! What are things to do to fight boredom?” While the challenge doesn’t seem difficult, at first glance, when you think about it, it definitely is. You can’t sleep the whole day. Is it sad that sleep was my first choice? Realistically, are these people aware of how many screen sources fill our days? I’m typing on one and you’re reading this on another. So $2400 for a 24 hour “digital detox”. Are you in?
So I Guess We’re Going Outside, Huh?
In this economic crunch, $2400 is nothing to take lightly. Rent, car, books for school, childcare for your little bag of needs, anyone would take a shot, right? If I eliminate all of the requirements, it’s still hard to come up with 16 hours worth of activities (minus 8 hours of slumber). Note: I’ve never slept for 8 hours, but take away my phone, Netflix and laptop, and I’ll definitely be rested. After a bike ride, laundry, a shot at the gym membership that I never use, that may eat up some time. Stop the presses, it just hit me. OMG I have to cook! Without screens, I can neither order delivery nor look up recipes. This just got real! You must be at least 18 and eligible to work in the U.S. You get $2400 upon completion of the challenge but also a $250 Amazon gift card to build your “tech-less survival kit”. Think you can? There are $2400 reasons to try!
