A head lice is no reason to miss school according to the new guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics. They think children who are sent home because of head lice "can result in significant stigma and psychological stress."

Head lice is most common among preschool and elementary children with as many as 6 million - 12 million infestations every year in kids between the ages 3 - 11.

So, how do you get head lice? It spreads through direct contact with another person who is infested person on clothing, hats, and other personal items like combs and towels.

American Academy of Pediatrics wants to stop the stigma so they say to not send kids home from school. They say, "head lice can be psychologically stressful to the affected individual."

Don't know if they were voted Most Likely To Succeed in the yearbook, but these Tampa area high school grads all made their mark. A 1980 graduate of Chamberlain High School. We sadly lost Shock G (AKA Humpty Hump) last year far too young.
