16-Year-Old Arrested For Shooting Tampa Teen Over Fake $100 Bill Used To Buy Weed
A 16-year-old was arrested after she shot a teen girl Friday morning in South Tampa over counterfeit money used to buy marijuana.
Police were called to 6200 block of South Manhattan Avenue after two teen girls setup a pre-planned fight. After the fight, the 16-year-old fired one shot at the 17-year-old girl when she was she was walking away. The teen who was shot was hit in the back and is currently in critical condition but survived her injuries.
The two girls who are related to one another started the fight when the 16-year-old bought weed from the victim with a counterfeit $100 bill.
Detectives with TPD said, “A day prior to the shooting, the victim and a friend confronted the suspect over the counterfeit money and fought him too, officers said. The teen suspect’s relative then asked the victim to meet her at their apartment complex the next day to fight, which is when the shooting occurred.”
Detectives found a small black 9mm semi-automatic handgun inside the teen’s home that was recovered at the crime scene.
The teen is now facing second-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon plus more potentially.
