Would You Pay For A Blue Check?
The debate is on, how much is a blue check worth? Would you pay? That’s exactly what Twitter is contemplating. Elon Musk who has now purchased Twitter is floating the idea of charging users $20 p/month for the blue check verification on the social media giant.
Twitter already has a monthly paid service called Twitter Blue, but the current cost is $4.99 per month, and those already using Twitter Blue would have 90-days to upgrade to the new service. Musk who didn’t respond directly to question about this but said, “the whole verification process is being revamped right now”.
This comes in the wake of Musk’s purchase, and announcement of significant layoffs in the company. Elon has made many of his plans for Twitter public on his own Twitter account. One of his biggest goals is to challenge Tik Tok which is the fastest growing social media platform. Twitter’s 230 million active users pales in comparison to the more than 1 billion Tik Tok has amassed in a much shorter time.
