In every city there is a burger spot that is a gem. Well in St. Pete, El Cap restaurant has been a hidden gem for many years. I found this spot during Covid, and it’s my favorite St. Pete burger spot whenever I feel like treating myself.
Despite a little struggling through COVID, El Cap Restaurant is still thriving. But they’ve recently made an announcement about some big changes within the restaurant. The operating partner Tara Mattiacci announced on the restaurant’s Facebook that she is retiring and passing on the torch to another St. Pete native. In the post on social media Tara stated that “They have every intention of keeping El Cap operating as it has been for decades and providing more efficiencies for the business and staff.”
Do you think this will this affect there burgers or their menu? We hope not, but it’s good to see them here stay for the long run. One of their best menu items was voted on by locals. The “World Champ Cheeseburger” is their award winning burger that’s only $6. It’s named that because you don’t need all the extra stuff with it. It’s just made of 100% pure-beef that’s ground daily with your choice of cheese. If you want to “score the extra point of great taste” you can add lettuce, tomato, mayo, and onion for an extra .30.
