“Significant” Bomb Threat At Manatee County School
Multiple bomb threats at Parish High School led to the school being placed on lock down Tuesday until authorities could give the all clear. Sadly, this seems to have become a trend at the Manatee county high school. The Parrish Police Department and the FBI are investigating the bomb threat which came from an app called Fortify Florida, which allows users to make anonymous tips.
The bomb threat has caused significant disruptions to the school day, but the school and law enforcement agencies are taking every precaution to keep students and staff safe. Though students were not taken off campus, they were taken to the football field until the all clear was given. Investigators were able to sweep the campus in less time than expected and students were eventually let back in after the evacuation.
The anonymous bomb threat came from an IP address out of California. Although it still isn’t know if the threat came from a VPN, which would mask the real origins of the app user. There are currently subpoenas to try to get the information of where the initial tip came from. They have had four bomb threats so far at the school just in the month of February. The school has implemented several new security measures, including increased police presence and metal detectors, to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. READ MORE
