Breeze Airways Announces New Direct Flights From Tampa To 3 New England Cities
Finally! I can visit my hometown without flying into Boston or having to wait for a connecting flight! I’m super pumped to share the news that Breeze Airways will be flying to smaller New England cities that for the most part have not been on the itinerary board at Tampa International Airport. Here’s the update according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
The one I’m most excited about is Portland, Maine. The GOOD news is that direct service to Portland will begin May 17. The BAD news is there will be only 2 flights per week unfortunately. They’ll do the route on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you’ve never had a chance to visit my hometown, summer is a great time to do it. Walk around the Old Port, get some pizza at Micucci’s on India Street and for dinner, head out towards Two Lights State Park and get some fried shrimp and lobster rolls and dine outside on the picnic tables over looking the rocky shore and ocean at The Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth.
Providence, Rhode Island is also on the list. They’ll fly there on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays starting July 14. One of my favorite things in Providence was the water fires. I don’t know if they still do this, but I’d imagine they do. They just simply light fires along the waterways around the city. It’s beautiful.
Lastly, Breeze will have direct service to Hartford, Connecticut. Honestly, this one I don’t know if I have any great experiences to share. The only time I really went through Connecticut was just to get to New York City. That service will run everyday except Mondays and Fridays starting May 17.
As airlines do when they announce a new route, fares are CRAZY cheap. I just bought at roundtrip ticket from Tampa to Portland for $110 for 4th of July week! But hurry, those will probably go quick. [Source: TBBJ]
