Many people including myself have been receiving weird text messages. If you don't recognize the sender, please do not click on any links. Some people are losing their social media accounts after clicking these random links that are being sent to their phone. There are also many text messages where the person is posing as law enforcement or government officials. Do not send them any money! Some residents in the Tampa Bay area are even being affected by these scams.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s office, there is a texting scam going across the United States. There have already been several incidents in the Polk County area. Several people have reported receiving a text that advertises T-shirts for sale by the Polk County sheriffs office! The text provides a link where you can make the purchase, but DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!

The text is not coming from the Sheriffs office. The scam text also includes Lakeland and Auburndale Police departments as well. Sheriff Grady Judd released a statement saying “Always be cautious of text messages with links, even if it appears to be from someone you know. Call the sender and make sure they sent it to you.”  This scam started last year, but some people are still receiving the text. Be careful!

5 Unsolved Mysteries In Florida

It is very sad when a persons loved ones can't get closure.  There have been so many unsolved cases here in Florida, and I get sad every time I read about them. The first case I covered below happened in the Naples area. I went to college in Southwest Florida so I'm very familiar. I remember sitting at the press conference and actually crying. I couldn't imagine not knowing what happened to a loved one. All the unsolved cases in Florida are important, but below I picked out 5 that stood out to me.

Two Florida Men Disappeared After Being Arrested By The Same Police Officer

I remember when Tyler Perry came down to Southwest Florida to speak about this case. The Collier County Sheriff's office tells us that Corporal Steven Calkins arrested Felipe Santos in 2003 and Terrance Williams in  2004. Both men sadly disappeared after.  Calkins arrested both men, never booked them and allegedly dropped them off at a Circle K.  Calkins was fired after giving contradicting statements during the investigation. Tyler Perry is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Williams and Santos, no leads or information surfaced. The two men remained missing.

Triple Family Murder

In 1996 Jeanie Sims arrived home from a babysitting job and found her mother, father, and 12-year-old sister attacked in their Tallahassee home. The three family members had been shot and stabbed. Both parents were still alive but her little sister was dead. The father died before the ambulance arrived and the mother passed away in the hospital. Police still have not found the killer and the suspects that they did have remain free.
