SAN FRANCISCO – FEBRUARY 09: A sign stands outside of a McDonald’s restaurant February 9, 2009 in San Francisco, California. Fast food chain restaurant McDonald’s reported a 7.1 percent increase…
Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty ImagesThis is such a sad and aggravating story. A heart breaking incident happened at a McDonald's in Polk County this past week that is leaving a couple seriously injured. A couple was waiting for their meal in the McDonald's drive-thru when the man behind them started raging because "they were taking too long." According to News Channel 8, 28 year-old Calvin Jordan Sousa got out of his car multiple times to scream at the couple. There must have been an underlying reason for this man's anger, because what he did next was extremely cruel. I can't imagine someone being THIS worked up over fast food.
News Channel 8 described the scenario from one of the victim's sister-in-law. She stated "The gentleman became irate, started honking and screaming — just was impatient — wanting everything to move. They were told at that point they couldn’t move forward, that McDonald’s has a policy they can’t walk outside to bring you your food."
One of the victims eventually stepped out to talk the angry man back to his car. That's also when he noticed that the irate man had a gun. Sousa didn't like that response so the two men eventually got into a fist fight. But that wasn't the end of it. Once the couple got their food, they drove away. That's when Sousa allegedly started following them and shooting at their van. One of the victims was shot in the arm. News Channel 8 says that the bullet is stuck in there and can't be removed. This may cause him to eventually lose some feeling in his arm. The other victim was shot in the neck, with the bullet lodged into her jaw. She is currently being treated at a local hospital with some signs of improvement. The family has set up a GoFundMe page.
The victims are a couple from Polk County. They met as teenagers and have been together for a long time. Together they have 2 kids, a 13 and 10 year old.
Sousa was charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of firing into an occupied vehicle, and one count of being a felon with a possession of a firearm.
