It's a sign of the times as many tend to prefer online shopping for household goods. Yesterday, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy, according to CNBC. The company's 360 stores, including our area's last remaining locations in Tampa, St. Pete, Largo, Clearwater and Wesley Chapel will close. On the Bed Bath & Beyond website today, a message reads: "Thank you to all of our loyal customers. We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down our operations. Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuy BABY stores remain open to serve you."

CNN reports that shoppers will have until Tuesday to use any leftover 20% off coupons. Liquidation of their inventory will bring some decent deals until the stores close at the end of June. Might be a good spot to get Mother's Day shopping done! There were reports that the stores had been emptying out of inventory since the holidays, as the chain had liquidity issues. CNBC says some wholesalers insisted on prepayment given Bed Bath & Beyond's financial troubles. [Source: CNBC, CNN]
