Going to college is one of the most exciting experiences a young adult can go through. Degree Choices released a study on the 27 most dangerous college campuses in the US which include violent crime across 14,000 colleges from 2019–2021. These violent crimes involve the use of force or threat of force against a person and include rape, murder, assault plus robbery. One Florida school landed number 21 on the top 27 most dangerous college campuses for 2023. It is none other than the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, with 87 violent crimes on campus between 2019 – 2021.

Public universities, which are funded by government monies, are usually less expensive than their private counterparts, primarily because they do not have to rely solely on tuition fees to stay solvent. And while there is a long-standing assumption that private school education is somehow “better” than a state university, state schools often provide the same types of degrees as private ones, and depending on the student, can sometimes provide a better fit for their education.
