Doctors Say Living By The Beach Is Good for Your Health

There are a million reasons why people live in Florida. It doesn’t whether it is because of the weather, tax breaks, or beautiful scenery, doctors have recently figured out the best reason of them all. Living by beaches is GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH! Well kind of. According to Dr. Rachel Taylor, there are major health benefits to being by the sea.
Sea Air
The neuroscientist reveals that sea air helps the brain and body by producing chemicals you need to keep you balanced, well and healthy. “When people breathe in sea air, the ions contained in it help [boost] the electrical functionality of the brain by 47% as well as creating new neural pathways, which – simply put – allows you to think with more clarity.” Dr. Taylor Says. Sounds to good to be true, but it doesn’t take a long time for the positive process to begin either. It only takes one day of breathing in sea air to kick start the benefits.
Other Benefits By The Sea
Sea air isn’t the only positive boost by the beach. Just looking up at the sun has health benefits. Just like Superman, people can be re-energized by the sun by receiving signals that go to the brain from your eyes. This tells your body to wake up according to Taylor. The sand is another tool that can help your health. The nerve endings you have in your feet not only connect you to the earth, but also helps reduce inflammation in your brain and body.
You can even add more health benefits just by bringing your friends. Walking in a group can make some feel like they belong to something, which releases oxytocin. Oxytocin, known by some as the “Love Hormone”, is linked to our social connections like love and raising children.
So the next time someone asks why you moved to Florida, you can confidently tell them that it was for your health.

Florida is one of the top states in the country where people are moving to in 2023. The report coming from PODS. Yes, the moving and storage company. They definitely are a great resource to put out a report about people moving.
PODS says about the overall report, “Our numbers indicate that cities and states with high costs of living, higher crime rates, and inclement weather are pushing Americans to move, while the cities and states that offer low tax rates, warm weather, and comparatively affordable housing are attracting movers.” Not only is Florida one of the top states people are moving to, but people are moving to the South of the United States more than anywhere else. The places where people are moving from the most are the New York tri-state area and the west coast.
There are a bunch of Florida cities people are moving to, but the #1 city isn’t in Florida. The report that PODS put out says that the #1 city people are moving to is Myrtle Beach, SC/Wilmington, NC. So, I guess they are combining the two cities even though they are 77 miles apart. Maybe they are tied for #1. That area was #6 in 2022.
