While tax-free holiday is upon us, back to school brings an awesome side hustle in Tampa and Polk.  As teacher numbers plummet across the country the past 18 months, opportunities are up leading into this new school year.  When watching a piece on ABC Action News, reporting specifically on the numbers closer to home, there is a large need for substitute teachers.  Roughly 1200 were on call in the Hillsborough County system and another 900 in Polk County and they're falling short with two weeks until school begins.  If looking for extra cash or the proverbial most lean on Uber or Lyft, or the ever-growing delivery but in my Tallahassee days, substitute teaching was the go to for many of my friends.  Don't sell yourself short because there is an awesome side hustle in Tampa and Polk.

The biggest draw is the opportunity to make your own schedule.  As I pulled a google search of areas in need, Tampa and Polk were apparent but Riverview, Pinellas Park and Clearwater had listings as well.  Imagine if the subs from your school days were as cool as you.  Now those looking to wheel in the TV cart, for movie day, might be in the wrong space but with teacher shortages, the substitute force is essential in these smaller humans staying on their path.  Ready to have an apple on your desk?
