Word spread fast when the owners of the Datz and Dough restaurants in Tampa sold their land on South MacDill Avenue recently. You do have some time to get one more brunch in. They announced on social media this week that their final day in operation will be on Sunday, August 27th. Datz opened in 2009 and has been featured in the Wonder Woman movie, The Food Network and on Good Morning America.

Datz still has a nearly perfect score on Yelp. Fans love their donut burgers, chicken and waffles benedict, and monkey bread. I personally was more of a Dough guy. It was their bakery next door that had my favorite doughnuts anywhere in Florida.

They made national news a few years back for their hilarious kids menu. Menu items for parents of fussy kids included the “I Don’t Want That” (ham or turkey on sourdough), “That Looks Gross” (peanut butter, marshmallow and bananas on sourdough), “I’m Not Hungry” (chicken tenders), “I Don’t Know” (pancakes), and “I Don’t Care” (bacon and eggs).

Some good news though. The Datz locations in St. Petersburg and Riverview will stay open. And the ownership will not change. So even though the Tampa location is going away, you can still enjoy Datz's other restaurants.
