Florida woman arrested after renting out an evicted apartment. Crazy right? Jasmine Everett of Fort Myers rented the apartment out via Facebook market place. Some people up here in St. Petersburg were doing these same type of scams.
Fort Myers Woman Arrested After Renting On Evicted Apartment
Jasmine Everett was arrested after scamming hard working people. The victim says she gave Jasmine Everett $1200 for what she thought was her new apartment.
Everett gave the victim they key and everything. The unit was located in the apartment complex Royal Palm Avenue. After the payment was made the victim started to move in. She was so excited until another tenant in the complex told them that the person that lived in that unit was up for eviction.
On December 5th police began investigating. They found that Everett used a fake profile on Facebook market place to rent out her mothers apartment. Her mothers apartment that was in the eviction process.
Everett was found on December 22nd and charged with fraud and taken to the Lee County Jail.
4th quarter and Holiday Season
It is 4th quarter and the Holiday Season. Scams are at an all time high. Please be careful and know who your are giving your money and information to.
On top of the rent scams, there are all types of phone scams going on as well. There is a scammer in Florida that is pretending to be a school district official.
They are calling and asking for money to give school officials a Christmas gift. There is also a jury duty phone scam going on as well.
They are calling and saying that if you don’t come to Jury duty, they are going to take you to jail. However they wont take you to jail if you make a payment. Do not give them your credit card information. Be safe and happy holidays.
