Tampa: Cheeseology Showcases The Art Of Making Cheese
We’ve found a new way to celebrate our love of cheese. Now, in addition to just consuming it, there’s the opportunity to make it yourself. Cheeseology in Tampa is a unique establishment that offers enthusiasts the opportunity to be the artisan behind their own cheese.
That’s right, here in Ybor City, you can learn about the craftsmanship of making cheese, then roll up your sleeves and make some yourself.
“Cheeseology was born out of our love for cheese and a desire to bring people closer together with unique, joyful experiences,” Cheeseology states on its homepage.
The History
A local couple (Paul and Kelly) enjoyed a cheese-making class they took on a trip to Napa Valley, California so much, that when they returned home, they looked for a similar opportunity. In their research, they found there were not many options. In fact, the places that did offer such an experience were also sold out. So, they launched their own cheese-making experience in an effort to share the joy they felt in partaking.
Now, at Cheeseology, you will have the chance to take classes and host private events. The classes will provide guests with all of the ingredients and materials they need. In addition, three instructors are assigned to guide you through. Rotating beer and wine options are also available to accompany your experience. Classes run anywhere from 90 – 120 minutes.
So far, it appears the pizza-making class is one of the most popular. It starts by making your own mozzarella and ends with you eating your masterpiece.
“After finishing your cheese-making class, you can purchase locally sourced charcuterie items, hand selected wine or beer and sit in our lounge and enjoy the fruits of your efforts,” Cheeseology states.
Cheeseology allows residents and visitors to Tampa to book their classes and private events now. You can find their options (such as fresh burrata with tasting) or lock in your cheese-making party here. They are located at 1527 E. 7th Ave.
Two Florida Restaurants Named Among The Best For French Fries
Do you want fries with that? Tasting Table recently published a list of restaurants with the best French Fries in the country and two New Florida establishments were named.
“From high-end steakhouses and neighborhood brasseries’ to fast food restaurants and even grocery store freezer aisles, fried spuds can be found in just about every type of restaurant or shop across the country,” Tasting Table explains. Their feature is specific to non-fast food restaurants.
French Fries are always a fan-favorite whether a side dish, an appetizer, or just a snack. They come in all shapes and sizes. Shoe strings crispy versions, thick-cut steak fries, seasoned curly fries, waffle fries, and even tater tots (are those considered fries, though?).
French Fry Fun Facts
In a 2019 story published by the Daily Meal, they discussed unique facts on French Fries in America. Two of the most fascinating have to do with McDonald’s. “Approximately 7 percent of the potatoes grown in the U.S. meet the same fate: they become McDonald’s french fries,” they said. They later stated that this fast food chain sells one-third of the French Fries consumed in the United States.
French Fries are like music. They are a common bond, and they are subjective. What one person prefers may be completely different from another. Better yet, both choices are correct.
For example, Best Things Florida released their list of best French Fries in the Sunshine State. It is completely different from Tasting Table’s. However, Tasting Table went and explored all corners of the country to crown their French Fry kings.
The two restaurants in Florida that were recognized for having some of the best French Fries in the country serve two very different styles. One of them is part of a restaurant that has expanded to other markets. The other is served in a restaurant where fries compliment BBQ.
