Drake Blasts Grammys: ‘This Show Doesn’t Dictate S—‘
Drake didn’t attend the Grammy as he’s on his It’s All A Blur: Big As The What? Tour But he still got some feelings he had about the award ceremony off his chest.
“All you incredible artists remember this show isn’t the facts it’s just the opinion of a group of people who’s name are kept a secret (literally you can google in),” he captioned a video of himself giving a speech at a previous Grammy Awards on his Instagram Story Sunday (Feb. 5). “Congrats to anybody winning anything for hip hop but this show doesn’t dictate s— in our world.”

Drake’s post follows his loss at the Grammys last night. The Toronto rapper was nominated for four Grammys: Best Rap Album (Her Loss with 21 Savage), Best Rap Song (“Rich Flex” with 21 Savage), Best Rap Performance (“Rich Flex” with 21 Savage), and Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Spin Bout U” with 21 Savage).
2024 Grammys: Hip-Hop and R&B Winners
This was the first year that Drake submitted his music to the award show after years of criticizing it.
“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after,” Drake said in a post on social media back in 2020 when The Weekend’s After Hours did not receive any nominations. He later ended up withdrawing his two nominations in 2022.
For hip-hop this year, Killer Mike racked up three Grammys. The rapper won Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists and Engineers,” the song featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane, as well as Best Rap Album for Michael. Lil Durk and J. Cole also took home a Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance for “All My Life.”
