Post Malone Performs Acoustic ‘America the Beautiful’
Post Malone took the field Super Bowl Sunday in Las Vegas and sang a folky, acoustic rendition of “America the Beautiful.” In a quiet version of the traditional pre-game song, Posty let his gorgeous voice shine through as he strummed the guitar. The genre-bending musician wore a brown suede jacket over a white button-up collared shirt with a bolo tie and very tight light jeans. Prior to his performance, Malone, 28, followed Andra Day’s pre-game performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Reba McIntire followed his performance with the National Anthem. Malone followed in the shoes of Babyface, who sang last year’s rendition of “America the Beautiful” during the Super Bowl, before the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles.
As players watched in silence, Taylor Swift and Blake Lively were seen in great spirits during the performance, hugging and swaying to his performance. Malone is set to be featured on Swift’s upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, on the album’s opening track, “Fortnight.”
Ahead of his performance, Posty admitted to Fox News that he was very nervous to perform in front of the country. When asked how he was feeling, he said laughing, “S—ting my pants, to be frank!” As for preparation, he said he woke up and hugged his baby. He welcomed his daughter in May 2022 with his fiancée. The singer also revealed that he’s rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and not the San Franciso 49ers. His reasoning is that he lost to Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes in a game of beer pong so that earned his respect. However, he is a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and told the publication, “We know who’s supposed to be there.”
