A new fear has been unlocked after hearing about this shocking medical emergency! Recently, a 63-year-old man was enjoying his breakfast at a Florida diner when he felt a sneeze coming on. It just so happens, when he sneezed, he also coughed at the same time. His colon fell out after this simultaneous cough and sneeze! OUCH!

A man who was enjoying his breakfast, colon fell out after he sneezed and coughed at the same time through a surgical incision. According to the NYPost, the man’s medical recovery is documented in an article published by the American Journal of Medical Case Reports. The article explains, “He immediately noticed a ‘wet’ sensation and pain in his lower abdomen. Looking down, he observed several loops of pink bowel protruding from his recent surgical site.” He was shocked and immediately called for medical attention.
He had just undergone abdominal surgery, and after he coughed and sneezed at the same time, felt a sharp pain. He felt a wet spot and lifted up his shirt and that’s when he made the shocking discovery. He realized their were several inches of his colon protruding from his wound. His doctors previously reassured him that his incision had healed but they were very wrong. Paramedics arrived on the scene only to find a three-inch opening with his bowel visible and hanging out.
Lucky for him, there was minimal blood loss and his bowel did not appear to be damaged during the incident. He was quickly taken to a local hospital to fix everything. Surgeons were able to successfully reposition his bowel back into his abdomen. Although he might be terrified to sneeze and cough at the same time. For the rest of his life he might have PTSD after dealing with this situation.
