Florida Lake Named One of the Best for Fishing in America
If you love fishing, then note that one Florida lake has been named one of the best for fishing bass in America. Florida is known for its ocean coasts, but it also has some great lakes. So, don’t discount those lakes. There’s something charming and extra special about sitting at a calm, cool lakeshore instead of the ocean once in a while.
This Florida Lake is One of the Best for Fishing
The fishing experts at Bassmaster.com have put together a feature on the 10 best lakes to fish and find bass in America. I love lake life, and as much as I would love to say I fish, I’m haven’t since I was a kid. I remember wanting to go fishing so badly as a kid, so a family friend took me out to fish one early morning, along with my dad. It was super fun, but all I caught was a worm. Yes, it was the worm I was using to fish. In any case, Bassmater.com has this tally out, and in it, they say, “We believe these fisheries are your best options right now to catch a ton of fish and maybe a double-digit bass, which is a unicorn in its own right.” They used an elaborate grading system, too, which involved putting in two months of work and research and surveying “not only every state’s fisheries department, who should be intimately aware of the fisheries they control, but also B.A.S.S. Nation members who fished in every state of the nation.” They also researched to find supporting data, such as “tournament results and verified trophy bass submissions.” So, this is a very extensive study on places that are the best for fishing and one that should appease fishing enthusiasts.
So, which Florida lake has been named one of the best for fishing? It’s Orange Lake. In the article, they note that Orange Lake has become quite a popular lake and has made a bunch of best-of lists the past few years. They also say that the lake has even improved. According to their findings, since January 2024, “33 bass over 8 pounds have been reported to the TrophyCatch program, 14 of which topped double digits.” They also mention that when it comes to new tournament results, “an Xtreme Bass Series event held here in April took 33.93 pounds to win, which included a 10.32-pound big bass.” Also, second place got 28.53. So, it’s a very impressive spot to catch yourself a big bass. I’m happy to see Orange Lake giving Florida one more reason to be called the Sunshine State.
