WATCH: 9 Year Old From Tampa Earn Golden Buzzer On AGT
Someone pass the tissues. Anytime you see someone get the Golden Buzzer on America’s Got Talent, it’s always emotional, starting from the interview/backstory. Well, this performance hits closer to home (literally) as 9 year-old Pranysqa Mishra from Valrico wins over the hearts of AGT judges and thousands of others watching on the July 2nd airing from her belting performance of Tina Turner’s “River Deep —Mountain High”.
Pranysqa has always had the dream to sing in front of hundreds of people. And her dream even became a reality in 2022 when she sang the national anthem at Game 1 of the Lightning vs Panthers playoff series. She went on again to perform the anthem the following year at a Heat game, and at the 2023 US Open. But instead of 20,000 sports fans backing her up, she takes the stage all by herself in front of one of the world’s toughest critics: Simon Cowell.
The 9 year old Tampa native said she was most nervous to sing in front of Cowell, but it’s her dream to be a performer. “I feel like, literally, I’m dreaming because my big dream is singing in front of so many people and I’m on that big stage,” she said. “Now it’s coming true.” Pranysqa said that the first person she would call if she were to move on is her Grandma. Spoiler alert, Heidi Klum tells her to make that call.
Now when you ask a 9 year-old who their favorite artist is, you expect to hear answers like “Taylor Swift”, “Sabrina Carpenter” or “the Jonas Brothers”. But Pranysqa shocked Simon and the rest of us when she said her favorite artists are Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner.
