According to the NYPost, “The space-age looking Sarco capsule replaces the oxygen inside it with nitrogen, causing death by hypoxia. The person wishing to die must first pass a psychiatric assessment of their mental capacity — a key legal requirement.” The entire experience would only cost $20 making it affordable for almost anyone. The Last Resort’s chief executive said, “I cannot imagine a more beautiful way (to die), of breathing air without oxygen until falling into an eternal sleep.”
How Does It Work?
The individual who is interested climbs into the purple capsule and closes to lid making a shape into a pod. After it’s completely sealed you are then asked automated questions. An activated voice will lastly instruct you, if you want to die, press this button. Not anyone can enter the suicide pods, they have a minimum age limit that is set at 50. However they do bend that rule if someone over 18 was seriously ill. The company will not restrict anyone over 18 if they are in severe pain.
