Have a great school year!

In some cities, school has already started. I live in St. Petersburg, Florida and school here starts on August 10th. I don't have any kids but at one time my niece was thinking about coming to live with me. Im happy that Pinellas County schools is not considered the worst school district in Florida.

Are you thinking about moving to Florida and want to avoid putting your kids in the worst school district? If your answer is yes, then you have come to the right article. When moving, keeping your kids education in mind is important. According to USA Today, "A good school district can greatly increase a child’s chances of future success." With that being said, Word Population Review  created a list of the worst school districts in each state. They got their data from USA Today.

How USA Today Got Their Data

USA Today used data from the U.S. Census Bureau, National Center for education statistics and 24/7 Wall St. With these sources they developed an index of measures, including the teacher-to-student ratio, the child poverty rate, per-pupil spending, the share of adults with a college education, and the high school graduation rate. These measures were all used to determine the school district where students are least likely to succeed in every state.

What States are People Moving To In 2023?

According to Pods.com, Americans are continuing to move to cities in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and the Carolinas in droves. Do you agree with this? Have you or are you thinking about moving to one of these sates this year?

Below is the worst school district in Florida. I also included the worst school districts in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Tennessee as well! If you disagree with any of these feel free to email me Babs@wild941.com. I look forward to hearing from you and I hope your kids have a successful school year.

North Carolina

Thomasville City Schools is located in Thomasville, North Carolina. In this school district students are more likely than those in most other districts to face obstacles in their academic development based on their home life. The child poverty rate in this school district is 36.8% and that is well above the state child poverty rate of 18.6%. This child poverty rate is also one of the highest of any school districts in the country.

South Carolina

Dillon School District Four is located in northern South Carolina. This school district lacks the same financial resources as the average district in South Carolina. Smaller class sizes have been shown in some cases to improve academic achievement. In Dillon however, the  student-to-teacher ratio of 17.3 to 1 is well above the 14.8 to 1 average ratio statewide.

Texas

Monte Alto Independent School District is located in Monte Alto, Texas. According to USA Today, Children raised by college-educated parents are more likely to succeed academically than their peers. In Monte Alto Independent school district,  just 9.5% of adults have a bachelor's degree or higher. This is well below the 29.3% share of adults across the state. Also over a third of all children in the district live below the poverty line.

Florida

Hamilton County School District Is located in Jasper Florida which is north near the border of Georgia. In this school district students have the lowest chances for success.  A big reason for this ranking is that there is a very high child poverty rate of 34.3%. Sadly that is higher than both the state and national rates. The sate rate is 18.4% and the national is 17%. Students who live in poor households are much less likely to succeed in school.
