Check Your Boars Head Deli Meat Because 9 People Are Dead Including One From Florida
I don’t want you to panic but I want you to stay safe. Please check your Boars head deli meat because 9 people are dead including one from Florida! According to The Hill, these people are dead due to the listeria outbreak that has been linked to Boars Head Deli Meat. This startled me because I frequent the Publix here in St. Petersburg and often buy a pound of Boars Head once a week. Well, the meat that I buy is not on the list of meats that have been recalled. Please check below to make sure that yours is not either.
List Of Meats That Boars Head Has Recalled
According to the Boars Head website, on July 25th of this year they recalled the Strassburger Brand Liverwurst because it had possibly been contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes. That same day they also recalled 9 other products that were made on the same line and day as their liverwurst. Less than a week later they recalled more of their products once testing confirmed a link between their liverwurst and outbreak. CLICK HERE to see a list of all of the recalled products.
None of the recalled items are being sold, but health officials want to make sure that you did not previously purchase any of these meats. Please check your refrigerators and if you did purchase any of these meats, make sure to clean any of the surfaces that it may have touched.
What Is Listeria?
According to the Mayo Clinic, Listeria is an “infection is a foodborne bacterial illness that can be very serious for pregnant women, people older than 65 and people with weakened immune systems. It’s most commonly caused by eating improperly processed deli meats and unpasteurized milk products.” According to the CDC, 57 people have now been reported sick from the Listeria Outbreak linked to Boars Head. All of those people have been hospitalized. Sadly 9 have now died including one person from Florida.
