Polk County Woman Wins $1 Million From Publix Lottery Scratch-Off

Polk County has a big winner after one woman claimed a $1 million prize on Thursday after she purchased a winning scratch-off ticket. The Publix located in Haines City will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the scratch-off ticket. Everyone becomes a winner at The Florida Lottery.

Which Scratch-Off Game Did She Play?

Congratulations to Mary Curatolo of Haines City who won $1 million from playing the $5 Million Triple Match Scratch-Off game. The Publix is located at 617 US Highway 17-92 in Haines City, Florida. Playing a scratch-off game is always fun and can be a quick way to win some money fast. In a smart decision, Curatolo decided to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum. She claimed her money at the Florida Lottery headquarters and took home $664,198.00. The store also received a bonus of $2,000 for selling the scratch-off ticket.

According to MSN, “$5,000,000 Triple Match is a $20 Scratch-Off game that has three ways to play and three ways to win. The game has two remaining top prizes of $5 million up for grabs as well as five remaining $1 million prizes. The overall odds of winning the Triple Match Scratch-Off game are 1-in-2.85.”

  • Jeffrey Dampier Jr. Won $20 Million

    Dampier moved to Tampa and wanted to open a gourmet popcorn store but was killed by his mistress, (who was also his sister-in-law) and her boyfriend. In 2005, Victoria Jackson and her boyfriend Nathan Jackson kidnapped Dampier and tied him up in a van. They beat him up, then Nathan handed Victoria a gun and said if you don’t shoot him I’m going to shoot you. That’s when she pulled the trigger and shot Dampier in the back of the head. They’re both serving life in prison.

  • Abraham Shakespeare Won $17 Million

    One of the most famous stories is about a janitor from Lakeland, Florida named Abraham Shakespeare who won a lump sum of $17 million. Shakespeare could barely read and write and ended up giving away a lot of his winnings over time. Dorice Donegan “Dee Dee” Moore befriended Shakespeare and became his financial advisor. Spending his money on a new million dollar house. She then killed shot him in the chest and buried him in the backyard. She then dumped a concrete lot on top of his body so police would never find him. She even faked writing letters to his mother to pretend that he was still alive. Dee Dee got life in prison for her terrible crimes. Coincidently, in 2017 Shakespeare’s mother, Antionette Andrews won $1 million in a $20 scratch-off lottery game.
