HOD HASHARON, ISRAEL - OCTOBER 26: An African Grey parrot bends his head for some attention in a pet shop October 26, 2005 in the central Israeli town of Hod Hasharon. The bird flu strain H5N1 which was discovered in a parrot which died in British quarantine this week resulted in a call for a ban on international trade in live exotic birds. In today's world, the concept of privacy is constantly evolving as we live in an age where people are always being watched. From security cameras on every street corner to the data collected by our smartphones and online platforms, surveillance has become an inescapable part of modern life. Whether for security, convenience, or business purposes, our actions, movements, and even our thoughts are increasingly being monitored and recorded. This alone should motivate someone to never steal, but the unfortunate truth is people still do.

The act of taking something that does not belong to us undermines trust, damages relationships, and disrupts the moral fabric of communities. Whether driven by necessity, desire, or impulse, stealing affects not only the victim but also the perpetrator, leaving long-lasting consequences. Might seem like common knowledge to most people, but someone should have told Grissel Flores Nistal. She was the Florida woman caught stealing a rare bird on camera.

54-year-old Grissel Flores Nistal has been arrested.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the crime occurred on Saturday at Everything Birds in Oldsmar. At first, Nistal seemed to be interested in petting the Black Headed Caique while it was in the container where customers can pet the animals. However, surveillance video captured the 54 year-old put the bird her purse and leaving the store hastily without paying for the $2400 bird. Nistel would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for the video and the help of social media.

After 2 people identified her, deputies went to her home in Largo where she agreed to return the bird. After that, deputies arrested and charged Nistal with grand theft.

Kirsten Cunningham, the owner of Everything Birds, told Fox 13 News "We have learned from this that we have to be on our toes, that anybody could be out there to get us." She continued by saying "We have definitely learned the importance of security cameras, and I encourage any, any business or small businesses especially, to install security cameras and to be really vigilant,"
