Shooting At Citrus Park Mall Leaves Teen Boy Dead
A shooting outside the Red Robin restaurant at Citrus Park Mall in Tampa happened over the weekend and it resulted in the death of a young teen. The shooting, which occurred late Saturday evening, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff deputies.
The Tampa Bay Times says, the shooting happened around 7:16 PM outside by the entrance and the Red Robin restaurant. The teen, whose identity has not yet been released, was reportedly shot in his upper body and was taken St. Joseph’s hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Citrus Park Mall has been known to be a family-friendly spot & this incident is a tragic and rare circumstance that patrons may feel deeply disturbed by and may view as a breach of safety at the mall and could raise serious concern about violence in public spaces.
Tampabay.com says Chief Deputy Jason Maurer said to reporters on Saturday that they have two suspects detained and are focused on know what their roles were in the shooting. They’ve launched a thorough investigation, seeking to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
Bay News 9 caught up with an employee at the mall who described the incident as “scary,” and continued with, “this just happened all of a sudden, and I was panicking because everything happened so fast.” According to the deputies, there was an altercation at the restaurant where a group was eating, and all of a sudden, a fight broke out that lead to the violent shooting.
