Florida residents please beware of this scam which could cost you thousands! Sadly a woman in Manatee County was taken advantage of and now she is out of money, thanks to scumbag scammers. Manatee county is very close to where I live in St. Petersburg by the way. We are approaching the holiday season which means there will be many scammers out here looking for their next victim.

The Manatee County Sheriffs Office, wants all Florida Residents to beware because a woman lost thousands of dollars after a child porn security alert came on her Mac computer. It all started with a message that appeared to be from Apple Support. The alert said that she had purchased child porn, but the woman knew that she didn't. The elderly woman ended up calling the number that was on the alert which belonged to the scammers.

The scammers told the woman that they were investigating her and that her financial data was at risk. They also told her that if it was released that she purchased child porn, she would be humiliated. She was then informed that her financial data was at risk and that she would be facing criminal charges. The scammers ended up convincing the elderly woman to pay them off. Over the next week, investigators say the woman paid the scammers over $27K! It wasn't over the phone either, the woman put the money in envelopes and personally gave it to the scammers who met her outside of her gated community (Lockwood Ridge Road) .

Please never give your personal information out to individuals that you don't know. Also, Apple Support will never ask you for money to get rid of security alerts. If you ever are targeted please contact law enforcement and change your passwords.
