A free pickleball event is coming to Tyrone Square in St. Petersburg on October 25. The event combines training sessions with open court time as part of Humana's efforts to promote active aging across the country.

"Pickleball is a perfect example of lifestyle medicine in action. It gets you moving, keeps your mind sharp and connects you with others," said Dr. Alex Ding to St. Pete Catalyst.

Players can reserve court times or show up when it's convenient. Registration is available at Humana.com/pickleball, though people can also just stop by.

The St. Pete event is part of Humana's larger campaign. They're getting the word out through TV ads, social media, and traditional flyers.

Humana has teamed up with major pickleball organizations - including the Association of Pickleball Players, Professional Pickleball Association and U.S. Senior Pickleball.

Look at Jamie Elliot - who turned to wheelchair pickleball after injuring his spine. His story shows how inclusive the sport can be.

Angela Dean, who heads the brand's initiatives, focuses on improving health through exercise and social connection. While seniors are their main focus, everyone is welcome to join.
