Green Book of Tampa Bay will host its Annual Artist Exhibit on May 30. The show features work by artists listed in the group's directory. Opening night runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at Studio@620 in St. Petersburg.

The exhibit continues through June at 620 1st Ave. S. Artists in the show come from the group's curated list of Black creatives across the region.

According to I Love the Burg, the group serves as a present-day hub inspired by the historic Green Book travel guide. That guide helped Black travelers find safe spaces across America. Through curated artist directories, programs, exhibits, and storytelling projects, they connect residents with Black artists and businesses.

Board President Joshua Bean grew up in Tampa Bay and graduated from the University of South Florida. He brings years of work with Pinellas County Schools, where he supported youth who faced challenges.

Dr. Hillary M. Van Dyke serves as Board Vice President. She earned her Ph.D. in education from the University of South Florida. In 2024, she premiered the award-winning documentary A Splash of Color, which highlights Black aquatic sports advocates in Tampa Bay.

The group runs an Artist Residency Program at their studio inside the Arts Xchange in the Warehouse Arts District. The residency is open to Green Book-listed artists and MFA students. Sponsored by the Gobioff Foundation, it provides support for emerging and established creatives.

Community members can visit during the Second Saturday Art Walk from 5 to 9 p.m. There they can engage with resident artists and see works in progress. The walks pause in June and December.

The group maintains a growing list of Black-owned businesses, artists, and leaders throughout the region. Their work has been featured in local media, including coverage by The Weekly Challenger.
