Street tacos anchor what this spot offers. Each protein gets kissed by fire. Carne asada comes from New York steak, seared over flames. Pollo al pastor arrives with chunks of charred pineapple clinging to the meat. Carnitas? They've got that too. Birria tacos come alongside consommé, perfect for dunking.
Carne asada fries pack on cheese, guacamole, sour cream, pico, chipotle aioli, and strips of grilled steak. Esquites get dressed with queso, a squeeze of lime, chipotle cream, cilantro, and crushed Doritos on top. Hugo's Steak brings tenderloin topped with salsa, bacon, melted cheese, and fried eggs — all sitting over fries and grilled vegetables.
According to That's So Tampa, chef Pablo commands the kitchen. Four decades of restaurant work have shaped his hands. His daughter Paula runs the place with her husband, Victor.
Victor and Paula launched Central Coffee & Sandwiches in downtown Tampa before this. Their new venture zeroes in on flame-grilled methods paired with traditional Mexican cooking.
Aguas frescas show up in four flavors: horchata, hibiscus, passion fruit, and pineapple. Mexican sodas round out what you can drink.
Find them on North Florida Avenue in Tampa's Seminole Heights area.
